Description

Deliciously cheesy French fries topped with warm cheddar cheese sauce and shredded cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bag frozen French fries
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese sauce
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • to taste salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven according to the instructions on the package for the frozen French fries, usually around 220°C (425°F).
  2. Bake Fries: Spread the frozen French fries on a baking sheet in a single layer. Bake them in the oven until they are golden and crispy, typically for 20-25 minutes. Turn them halfway through the baking time.
  3. Prepare Cheese Sauce: While the fries are baking, melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the cheddar cheese sauce, stirring until smooth. Mix in the paprika, garlic powder, and black pepper. Keep the sauce warm on low heat.
  4. Assemble: Once the fries are baked, place them on a serving platter. Drizzle the warm cheese sauce over the fries evenly.
  5. Add Shredded Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top of the fries and sauce.
  6. Broil (Optional): For extra melty cheese, place the platter under the broiler in the oven for about 1-2 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and slightly bubbly. Keep a close eye to prevent burning.
  7. Season: Sprinkle a bit of salt and additional paprika over the top for extra flavor.

Notes

  • Optional Toppings: Add cooked bacon bits, chopped green onions, or jalapeños for extra flavor and texture.
  • Cheese Varieties: Try mixing in some mozzarella or Monterey Jack cheese for a different flavor profile.
  • Crispy Fries Tip: For extra crispy fries, soak them in cold water for 30 minutes before baking, and pat them dry. This removes excess starch.
  • Make it a Meal: Serve alongside grilled chicken or burgers to make it a complete meal.
