Description

Enjoy your thick, gooey chocolate chip cookies!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • Extra chocolate chips for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Mix Together: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing well until combined. Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts, if using.
  5. Shape the Cookies: Use a spoon or cookie scoop to portion the dough into balls (about 2 tablespoons each) and place them onto a lined baking sheet. Press a few extra chocolate chips onto the top of each cookie dough ball for added visual appeal.
  6. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are golden brown but the centers remain soft. Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For even thicker cookies, chill the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before baking.
  • Use parchment paper or silicone baking mats to ensure the cookies don’t stick.
  • Ensure your butter is softened to room temperature for best results in creaming.
  • Avoid over-mixing the dough once the flour has been added to prevent tough cookies.
