Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Mix Together: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing well until combined. Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts, if using.
- Shape the Cookies: Use a spoon or cookie scoop to portion the dough into balls (about 2 tablespoons each) and place them onto a lined baking sheet. Press a few extra chocolate chips onto the top of each cookie dough ball for added visual appeal.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are golden brown but the centers remain soft. Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

- For even thicker cookies, chill the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before baking.
