Description

A delicious and flavorful chicken shawarma wrap that brings the taste of the Middle East to your table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 500 grams boneless chicken thighs, sliced
  • 4 large wraps or pita breads
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 cup lettuce, shredded
  • 1 cup tomatoes, diced
  • 1/2 cup cucumber, sliced
  • 1/4 cup red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup tahini sauce or garlic sauce

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Chicken: In a bowl, combine yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, cumin, coriander, paprika, cayenne, salt, and pepper. Add the chicken slices and mix well to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
  2. Cook the Chicken: Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the marinated chicken for about 5-7 minutes on each side until fully cooked and slightly charred.
  3. Prepare the Wraps: Warm the wraps or pita breads on a skillet for about 30 seconds on each side.
  4. Assemble the Wraps: Place a portion of the cooked chicken on each wrap. Top with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, and red onion. Drizzle with tahini sauce or garlic sauce. Roll the wrap tightly around the fillings.
  5. Serve: Cut the wraps in half and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Adjust the Spice Level: For more heat, add extra cayenne pepper or some hot sauce.
  • Make it Creamy: Add some hummus or additional yogurt for a creamier texture.
  • Vegetable Variations: Feel free to add more vegetables like bell peppers or parsley for extra freshness.
  • Serving Suggestion: Serve with a side of pickled vegetables for added flavor.
