Description
A delicious and hearty beef lasagna loaded with cheese and flavorful marinara sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 9 lasagna noodles
- 3 cups marinara sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the Noodles: Boil a large pot of salted water and cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Prepare the Meat Sauce: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute. Add the ground beef to the skillet, browning it and breaking it into smaller pieces with a spoon. Cook until fully browned. Stir in the marinara sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Let simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Assemble the Lasagna: In a rectangular baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom. Layer three lasagna noodles over the sauce. Spread one-third of the ricotta cheese over the noodles. Sprinkle a layer of mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese. Repeat the layering process two more times, finishing with a top layer of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
- Bake the Lasagna: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and let it rest for about 10 minutes. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
- For added flavor, consider mixing some cooked Italian sausage with the ground beef.
- If you like a creamier texture, mix an egg into the ricotta cheese before layering.
- Make sure to let the lasagna rest before cutting to ensure neat slices.
- Feel free to add layers of sautéed vegetables like spinach or mushrooms for extra nutrition.
