- 1 package phyllo dough
- 1 cup unsalted pistachios, finely ground
- 1 stick unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom (optional)
- 1/2 cup honey
- Zest of 1 lemon
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare Phyllo Dough: Thaw phyllo dough according to package instructions. Keep it covered with a damp cloth to prevent drying out.
- Layer Phyllo: Brush a tart pan with melted butter. Lay a sheet of phyllo in the pan, brush with butter, and sprinkle a thin layer of ground pistachios. Repeat the process until you have about 6 layers of phyllo and pistachios, using about 12-15 sheets of phyllo.
- Form the Tart Shell: Trim the excess phyllo around the edges, leaving about an inch over the sides. Fold overhanging edges inward to form a neat crust.
- Mix Filling: In a bowl, combine sugar, ground cardamom, honey, and lemon zest. Stir until well mixed.
- Add Filling: Pour the honey mixture into the center of the phyllo shell, spreading gently to distribute evenly.
- Layer More Phyllo: Add another 3 layers of phyllo on top, brushing each with butter. Sprinkle the top with the remaining ground pistachios.
- Bake the Tart: Place the tart in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and crisp.
- Cool: Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool completely before serving.
