Description
A delicious and fluffy mixed berry croissant bake, perfect for brunch or dessert.
Ingredients
Scale
- 5–6 large croissants, torn into pieces
- 2 cups mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Baking Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Arrange Croissants and Berries: Layer the torn croissant pieces evenly in the greased baking dish. Sprinkle the mixed berries on top, ensuring they are evenly distributed.
- Make the Custard: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until fully combined.
- Combine Croissants with Custard: Pour the custard mixture evenly over the croissants and berries, ensuring all pieces are soaked and submerged.
- Let It Sit: Allow the mixture to sit for about 10–15 minutes, letting the croissants absorb the custard.
- Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.
- Cool and Serve: Let the croissant bake cool slightly before serving. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
- Berry Variations: Feel free to use any combination of your favorite berries. Fresh or frozen berries both work well.
- Customization: Add a handful of sliced almonds or chopped nuts for extra texture.
- Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat before serving.
- Sweetness Adjustments: Adjust the amount of sugar to taste if using sweeter or tarter berries.
