Description

A delicious and colorful appetizer perfect for gatherings, consisting of multiple layers of flavors and textures.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (16 oz) refried beans
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 cup guacamole
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup black olives, sliced
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
  • 1 avocado, diced (for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • for serving tortilla chips
  • optional cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat. Add taco seasoning and a little water (as directed on seasoning packet). Simmer for a few minutes until mixed well. Set aside to cool.
  2. Assemble the Layers: In a large, clear serving dish, start by spreading an even layer of refried beans on the bottom. Next, add a layer of the prepared ground beef. Spread the sour cream evenly over the beef. Carefully spread a layer of guacamole on top of the sour cream. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the guacamole. Add diced tomatoes as the next layer. Top with sliced black olives and green onions. Garnish with additional diced avocado, lime juice, and cilantro if desired.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, mix a tablespoon of lime juice into the guacamole layer.
  • Ensure each layer is spread evenly to display the layers nicely through the serving dish.
  • Make ahead and refrigerate for an hour to enhance flavors.
  • Serve with tortilla chips for dipping.
  • Customize the spice level by adding jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce.
