Description
This homemade barbecue sauce is a perfect blend of sweetness and tanginess.
Ingredients

- 1 ½ cups ketchup
- 1 ½ cups brown sugar
- ¼ cup white vinegar
- ½ cup water
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients together in a medium heavy bottomed sauce pan.
- Bring to a low simmer over medium heat.
- Cook until thickened, then cool a portion and taste test.
- Add any ingredients to taste at this point if needed, then cook another 3-4 minutes to let the flavors blend.
- Remove from the heat and let cool.
Notes
- Adjust sweetness or tanginess by adding more sugar or vinegar as needed.
- This sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
