Description

This homemade barbecue sauce is a perfect blend of sweetness and tanginess.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups ketchup
  • 1 ½ cups brown sugar
  • ¼ cup white vinegar
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients together in a medium heavy bottomed sauce pan.
  2. Bring to a low simmer over medium heat.
  3. Cook until thickened, then cool a portion and taste test.
  4. Add any ingredients to taste at this point if needed, then cook another 3-4 minutes to let the flavors blend.
  5. Remove from the heat and let cool.

  • Adjust sweetness or tanginess by adding more sugar or vinegar as needed.
  • This sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
