Ingredients
Scale
- 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
- 2 cups vanilla custard (store-bought or homemade)
- fresh raspberries for topping
- 1 egg beaten (for brushing)
- powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Prepare Puff Pastry:
- Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface.
- Cut the sheets into squares (about 4×4 inches).
- Fold each corner of the square towards the center, pinching them to form a pouch shape.
- Apply Egg Wash:
- Brush the tops with beaten egg to give the pastry a golden finish.
- Bake:
- Place the prepared pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and puffy.
- Fill with Custard:
- Let the pastries cool slightly.
- Pipe or spoon vanilla custard on top of each pastry.
- Add Toppings:
- Place a fresh raspberry on top of the custard for garnish.
- Dust with powdered sugar.
Notes
- If making custard from scratch, ensure it’s thick enough to hold shape once cooled.
- Add a hint of lemon zest or almond extract to the custard for extra flavor.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator; best enjoyed within 1-2 days.
- Keep puff pastry cold to make it easier to handle and to achieve better puffing in the oven.
