Description

Delicious crispy fried wontons filled with savory ground pork or chicken and served with a flavorful dipping sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package wonton wrappers
  • 1/2 pound ground pork or chicken
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped green onions
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking oil for frying
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (for the dipping sauce)
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar (for the dipping sauce)
  • 1 tablespoon chili paste (for the dipping sauce)
  • 1 tablespoon honey (for the dipping sauce)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground pork or chicken, chopped green onions, minced garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
  2. Assemble the Wontons: Place a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Add about 1 teaspoon of filling to the center. Moisten the edges of the wrapper lightly with water using your fingers. Fold the wrapper in half to form a triangle, pressing the edges to seal. Bring the two opposite corners together and pinch to seal, forming a small pocket.
  3. Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, chili paste, and honey. Set aside for dipping.
  4. Fry the Wontons: Heat the cooking oil in a deep frying pan or wok over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully add a few wontons at a time, frying them until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove the wontons using a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  5. Serving: Arrange the crispy wontons on a serving plate with the dipping sauce in a small bowl in the center.

Notes

  • Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to achieve a crisp texture.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan when frying to maintain the oil temperature.
  • Experiment with fillings by adding ingredients like shrimp, mushrooms, or bell peppers for variety.
  • Store leftover wontons in an airtight container in the refrigerator and reheat in the oven to maintain crispiness.
