Description

A delicious and easy-to-make grilled bratwurst with vegetables wrapped in foil for a perfect outdoor meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Bratwurst Links (can substitute with smoked sausage or kielbasa)
  • 1 lb Small Red Potatoes (cut into wedges)
  • 1 lb Baby Carrots (or use regular carrots cut into pieces)
  • 1 medium Red Onion (sliced into rings)
  • 8 oz Whole Fresh Mushrooms (or canned mushrooms for quicker prep)
  • 2 tbsp Butter (can substitute with olive oil or margarine)
  • 1 packet Onion Soup Mix (or use a homemade seasoning mix)
  • 2 tbsp Soy Sauce (low-sodium for a healthier alternative)
  • 1 tsp Pepper (adjust to preference)
  • to taste Fresh Herbs (like parsley or thyme)
  • to taste Chopped Green Onions (for added crunch)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Foil: Lay a double layer of heavy-duty aluminum foil measuring about 17×15 inches on a flat surface.
  2. Cut and Arrange: Cut the bratwurst into thirds. Distribute the bratwurst, red potatoes, baby carrots, red onion, and mushrooms evenly into two foil packets.
  3. Season Generously: Dot the mixture with butter, then sprinkle the onion soup mix, soy sauce, and pepper over the top.
  4. Seal Tightly: Fold the edges of the foil tightly to create a secure packet.
  5. Cook Over Heat: Grill the packets over medium heat for 23-28 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  6. Open Carefully: When done, carefully open the foil packets to let the steam escape.

Notes

  • Ensure that the foil packets are sealed tightly to avoid any leakage of juices.
  • This recipe can be easily adjusted with your choice of vegetables.
